“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.
You feel it, don't you?”

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

I provide a free, no obligation, 15-minute phone consultation for us to get to know each other and explore if we would be the right fit. I will happily answer any questions you may have about me or about therapy. If you aren’t sure what to say or ask, that’s okay - I will guide you through.

How much are therapy sessions? Do you take insurance?

I charge $190 for a 45 minute individual therapy session and $250 for a 75 min family therapy session. Fees are subject to change. To provide my clients with more confidentiality and power over their treatment, I am not in-network for insurance as insurance companies often have limitations over the type of treatment a client can receive and the number of sessions covered, and require a diagnosis. Many of my clients utilize insurance benefits by submitting a superbill to their insurance company for reimbursement. It is the client’s responsibility to know their insurance company’s policies on superbills as I cannot guarantee reimbursement. I am also able to charge FSA and HSA cards. I have a limited number of sliding scale spots as well.

What is The No Surprises Health Service Act: Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your treatment will cost. Under the law, all health care providers need to provide their patients an estimate of their bill for services – if their patients don’t have insurance or will not be using insurance.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any of your services.

Your therapist is expected to give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your therapy begins.

You can also ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. (If you receive a bill that is $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate you received, you can dispute the bill).

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

Where are you located? Are you using Telehealth?

My office is located in Newport Beach, California. I am primarily using Telehealth however I do have some in-person sessions available. Telehealth sessions are conducted over video allowing me to work with clients throughout California. Many clients find that they enjoy participating in therapy from the comfort of their own homes. I recommend a white noise machine if you are concerned about being overheard.

What is your cancellation policy?

In order to make progress, it is very important that you attend sessions consistently. Occasionally, you may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Please let me know via phone or email as soon as possible. If you cancel an appointment 24-48 hours prior to session, you will be charged 50% of the session fee. If you cancel 24 hours or less prior to your session (or no show), you will be charged the full amount of your session.

How do I schedule a first appointment?

Please give me a call at 714-340-5367 or send me an email at emily@inwardpsychotherapy.com to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation. We will schedule your first appointment after the consultation if we decide to move forward with therapy together. I look forward to hearing from you!
