Teen Therapy in Orange County
Adolescence can be a wonderful but complicated time. Teens are forming their own identities while trying to fit in with peers and meet the expectations of teachers, parents, and coaches. Teens often feel misunderstood by those around them, afraid to burden the people they love with their emotions, or shy to admit the thoughts and feelings they think no one else has. I provide a safe space where young clients can speak honestly about their experiences without fear of judgment and learn coping skills to help manage big emotions.
I mostly use talk therapy however I also incorporate journaling, art, collage, music, or other creative techniques to assist with emotion processing when talking is difficult.
I allow teens to set the pace of their therapy sessions, empowering them to make choices, set boundaries, and create their own goals while also holding them accountable and gently challenging them to get outside of their comfort zone when they are ready.
Family sessions are sometimes incorporated into the teen’s individual therapy if I deem it clinically appropriate to help them be more supported and understood. I will get the teen’s permission first and make sure their confidentiality is still honored.

Disclaimer: Therapy is not guaranteed to be successful. Progress and success vary depending upon the particular problems or issues being addressed, as well as many other factors including the client’s ability and commitment to develop insight and make changes - and the fit of the client and therapist. Some modalities of treatment will be extremely effective with one client, and less effective or ineffective with another. When a therapist’s treatment approach is not effective with a particular client, it may be necessary for that client to be referred to a therapist who uses a different approach. There may be times when medication is necessary for symptom relief.
